Insights

The Waterways and Shipping Office Rhine has emerged from the (former) Waterways and Shipping Offices Bingen, Cologne, and Duisburg since January 30, 2020. To remain as accessible as possible to the local areas, the three locations in Bingen, Cologne, and Duisburg are retained.

The new WSA Rhine is responsible for the approximately 370 km long section of the federal waterway Rhine between Mainz (Rhine km 493.5) and the German-Dutch border (Rhine km 865.515). It is also responsible for the Rhine-Kleve shipping route between Kleve (km 1.77) and the mouth into the Rhine (km 10.14). The federal waterway includes the river and, as far as they are owned by the federal government, the banks, access roads, ports, and facilities.
