To strengthen the South Westphalia region through smart ideas, determination, and coordinated action, the Südwestfalen Agentur GmbH was founded in 2008. It is supported by the region’s five districts — Olpe, Soest, Siegen-Wittgenstein, Hochsauerlandkreis, and Märkischer Kreis — as well as the association “Wirtschaft für Südwestfalen” (Business for South Westphalia). The agency brings together the strengths of politics and business, acting as a dynamic networking hub for the region — both internally and externally.

As a facilitator and driving force, the agency manages the implementation of several funding programs. For example, in REGIONALE 2025, numerous partners collaborate with the agency to develop innovative projects that offer new, forward-looking responses to the evolving challenges of living, housing, and working in the region — fully aligned with the South Westphalia DNA: Digital – Sustainable – Authentic. REGIONALE 2025 is a structural program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, supported by urban development funds from both the federal and state governments. Additionally, the agency coordinates South Westphalia’s Smart City strategy in cooperation with cities and municipalities and drives the Hub45 initiative, building a coworking network for digital and decentralized workplaces across the region.

At the same time, Südwestfalen Agentur GmbH acts as a positive communication amplifier for the region. Under the umbrella of the regional marketing campaign “Südwestfalen – Alles echt” (South Westphalia – All Genuine), it promotes the unique identity of this economically strong and green region throughout Germany — highlighting the diverse career and lifestyle opportunities for students, graduates, and professionals. To further strengthen South Westphalia’s position as a top employer region, the agency also coordinates, together with local partners, the collaborative project “Arbeitgeberschmiede Südwestfalen” (Employer Forge South Westphalia).
