In order to strengthen the region of Südwestfalen together with smart ideas, dynamism, and coordinated action, the Südwestfalen Agency GmbH was founded in 2008. It is supported by the five districts of Südwestfalen: Olpe, Soest, Siegen-Wittgenstein, Hochsauerlandkreis, and Märkischer Kreis, as well as the association "Wirtschaft für Südwestfalen". The agency brings together the forces of politics and business in the region and acts as a dynamic networking hub both internally and externally.  

As a moderator and driving force, it oversees the implementation of several funding programs. For example, in the REGIONALE 2025, many partners are developing innovative projects with the agency to provide new exemplary answers to the changing challenges of living, housing, and working in the region — in line with the Südwestfalen DNA (Digital - Sustainable - Authentic). The REGIONALE 2025 is a structural program of the state of NRW and is supported by funds from federal and state urban development funding. Additionally, the agency coordinates the Smart City strategy of Südwestfalen in cooperation with the cities and municipalities and drives the establishment of a coworking network for digital and decentralized workplaces with "Hub45".

At the same time, the Südwestfalen Agency GmbH acts as a positive communication amplifier for the region. Under the umbrella of the regional marketing campaign "Südwestfalen – Everything real", it ensures, among other things through campaigns, that the extraordinary profile of the economically strong and green region is known throughout Germany and shows students and professionals the diverse career and life perspectives in Südwestfalen. To further profile Südwestfalen as a top employer region, the agency coordinates the project "Arbeitgeberschmiede Südwestfalen" with partners in the districts.
