Insights

The headquarters of the BVA is located in Cologne. Currently, around 6,000 employees work at a total of 23 locations. The Federal Office of Administration was established in 1960 as an independent federal authority by the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The founding idea was to bundle and execute administrative tasks of the federal ministries more effectively. This concept has developed very dynamically over the years: the BVA plays a key role in the modernization and digitalization of public administration. Examples of the diversity of tasks include:

  • Tasks in the area of public safety such as the Central Register of Foreigners
  • Grant management, e.g., in sports, culture, youth, and social funding
  • Collection of BAföG loans
  • Training authority for the intermediate service at the federal level
  • Personnel and administrative services for more than 300 authorities, primarily payroll and remuneration as well as travel management and allowances. Organizational and digitalization consulting for ministries and other authorities.
  • Planning and implementation of complex IT specialist procedures such as the National Weapons Register

In addition to IT specialists, we regularly seek suitable employees for our “classic” administrative and service tasks throughout Germany.
