The Bundesanstalt für Straßen- und Verkehrswesen (BASt) is a practice-oriented, technical and scientific research institution under the Federal Ministry of Transport, based in Bergisch Gladbach. Around 200 scientists from various disciplines conduct research with the aim of improving the safety, environmental compatibility, efficiency, and performance of road transport.
